Register here! This event will celebrate the Peace in Our Cities network and highlight the progress made by its global network of city members and partners. Further, it will discuss the role of local actors in reducing violence and sustaining peace and what this means in the context of a multilateral system striving to achieve ambitious reductions in all forms of violence by 2030.
Since 2019, the Peace in Our Cities network has brought together city leaders and partners across the world to amplify their efforts in reducing urban violence by connecting them with resources and expertise, creating peer-to-peer exchanges, and elevating their voices on the global stage. Since then, we have seen many success cases among our members, including cities that have obtained upwards of 60 percent reduction in rates of violence.
This event is co-hosted by the Permanent Missions of Switzerland and Colombia to the United Nations and the Peace in Our Cities Network, which is co-facilitated by the Pathfinders for Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies at the Center on International Cooperation (CIC) at NYU, the Stanley Center for Peace and Security, and the University of San Diego’s Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice.
